For a Gulf business the right AI assistant is mostly decided by three things: which office suite you already pay for, whether your data must stay in the UAE, and whether you need a team plan that does not train on your data. Copilot fits Microsoft 365 shops, Gemini fits Google Workspace shops, and Claude or ChatGPT are the pick when you want the strongest standalone assistant with team controls. Prices below are as of October 2026.
Key takeaways
- All four are available in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. Anthropic lists all six in its supported countries.
- Team plans for Claude and ChatGPT cost the same at the entry seat: $20 per user a month billed annually, or $25 monthly, with a minimum of two seats, and neither trains on your workspace data by default.
- Microsoft 365 Copilot Business is an $18 per user a month add-on on an annual plan (listed as a promotional price, originally $21), on top of a Microsoft 365 licence. Copilot Chat is free for Entra users on eligible plans.
- Google’s AI subscriptions start at $7.99 a month for individuals, and Gemini features are built into Workspace plans, with Gemini in Docs and Meet from Business Standard up.
- For UAE data residency, ChatGPT Enterprise offers UAE data and inference residency, Microsoft 365 Copilot has in-country processing for qualified UAE organisations, and Claude is available in the AWS UAE region through cross-region inference with limits.

Which plans exist and what do they cost?
Every vendor has a free tier, an individual paid tier, a team tier and an enterprise tier. For a business the team tier is the one that matters, because that is where admin controls and data protection start.
| Assistant | Individual | Team or business | Enterprise | Training on your data |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Claude (Anthropic) | Pro $17 a month billed annually or $20 monthly; Max from $100 | Team Standard seat $20 a month billed annually ($25 monthly); Premium seat $100 ($125); minimum 2 seats, for teams of 2 to 150 | $20 per seat a month billed annually plus usage at API rates; SCIM, audit logs, custom retention | Consumer plans: opt-out. Team and Enterprise: none by default |
| ChatGPT (OpenAI) | Free, Go, Plus and Pro tiers; prices vary by country and are shown on the pricing page | Business Standard seat $25 monthly or $20 billed annually; Premium seat $125 or $100; minimum 2 seats | Contact sales; annual plans | Business: “OpenAI won’t train on your workspace’s data” |
| Gemini (Google) | Google AI Plus $7.99, AI Pro $19.99, AI Ultra from $99.99 a month, as reported after Google I/O 2026 | Included in Google Workspace plans; Gemini in Gmail on all plans, Gemini in Docs and Meet from Business Standard; “AI Expanded Access” sold as an add-on | Workspace Enterprise, contact sales | Governed by Workspace terms |
| Copilot (Microsoft) | Copilot Chat free for Entra users with an eligible Microsoft 365 subscription | Microsoft 365 Copilot Business add-on $18 per user a month on an annual plan ($25.20 monthly); bundles such as Business Standard with Copilot at $23.50 | Enterprise licensing | Governed by Microsoft 365 terms |
Two cautions. ChatGPT’s and Google’s consumer prices are shown per country, so check the local page. And every price here is a list price on a public page that can change without notice; the vendor page is the source of truth.
Which one is right if you already use Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace?
Usually the one built into your suite, at least for the everyday work of email, documents and meetings. Microsoft 365 Copilot works inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams, adds chat grounded in your work data through Microsoft Graph, and ships pre-built agents such as Researcher and Analyst. Google’s Workspace plans put Gemini in Gmail on every tier and add Gemini in Docs, AI meeting notes and summaries in Meet, and NotebookLM from Business Standard up.
The catch is that both suites tie AI access to the plan tier. Google’s Business Starter gets only “basic” Gemini app access and no Gemini in Docs or Meet, and Microsoft’s full Copilot is an add-on, not part of the base licence. Price the upgrade, not just the add-on.
When does a standalone assistant make more sense?
When the work is thinking, writing, analysis and building rather than office admin. Claude’s Team plan includes Claude Code, enterprise search, SSO, central billing and pooled API credits, which suits companies that want the assistant to write software, process documents and run agents. ChatGPT Business includes Codex on both seat types and the usual projects and GPTs. Both have connectors to business tools through the Model Context Protocol, which we explain in MCP explained for business owners.
Many companies end up with one suite assistant for everyone and a standalone plan for the ten people who do the heavy work. That is a reasonable outcome, not a failure to decide.
Which one keeps data in the UAE?
This is the question regulated businesses, government suppliers and anyone with a strict client should ask first. The honest answer as of October 2026 is that each vendor offers something, with conditions.
ChatGPT
OpenAI lists the United Arab Emirates among its data residency regions for storage at rest and among its inference residency regions, alongside Europe and the United States. Data residency is included at no additional cost for ChatGPT Enterprise and Education plans, and inference residency requires data residency in the same region. UAE inference residency has limits: image generation and internal search are not supported, ChatGPT Work is not supported, and some processing such as PDF text extraction may still happen outside the region. Business plans are not mentioned; eligibility goes through Sales.
Microsoft 365 Copilot
Microsoft announced on 14 October 2025 that in-country data processing for Microsoft 365 Copilot in the UAE would be available in early 2026, hosted in its Dubai and Abu Dhabi data centres, exclusively for qualified UAE organisations, with controls developed with the Cyber Security Council and DESC. Copilot interactions, meaning prompts and responses, are stored and processed within the country under normal operations.
Claude
Claude models are offered in Amazon Bedrock from the UAE region, me-central-1, and Bahrain, me-south-1, through global cross-region inference introduced in February 2026. Requests start in your region and may be processed in other commercial regions; AWS states that customer data is not stored in a destination region, and that logs, knowledge bases and configurations stay in the source region. That is useful for building your own agents, but it is not the same as the Claude app keeping data in the UAE.
Gemini
Workspace data location settings are governed by Google’s Workspace terms and depend on your edition. Ask Google or your reseller for the current position before relying on it.
In all four cases, remember that Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 applies to personal data you process anywhere, and that DIFC and other free zones have their own data laws. This is not legal advice.
How should you test them before buying?
Run the same five tasks on each with your own material, in Arabic and English: summarise a real contract, draft a customer reply to a real complaint, build a sales report from a real spreadsheet, answer ten questions from your own policy documents, and write a WhatsApp template. Score accuracy, tone and how often you had to correct it. Arabic quality in particular differs between models and dialects, so never buy on an English demo. Most vendors offer a free tier or trial long enough for this.
A simple decision path
| Your situation | Start with |
|---|---|
| Everyone lives in Outlook, Teams and Excel | Microsoft 365 Copilot for the people who need it, Copilot Chat for the rest |
| Everyone lives in Gmail, Docs and Meet | Workspace Business Standard or above for Gemini in Docs and Meet |
| Small company that wants one strong assistant with team controls | Claude Team or ChatGPT Business, two seats minimum, about $20 a seat a month annually |
| You build software or agents | Claude Team, which includes Claude Code and API credits, or ChatGPT Business with Codex |
| Data must stay in the UAE | ChatGPT Enterprise with UAE residency, or Microsoft 365 Copilot for qualified UAE organisations; Claude via Bedrock for your own applications |

Frequently asked questions
Is Claude available in the UAE and Saudi Arabia?
Yes. Anthropic’s list of supported countries and regions includes the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. The published plan prices are in US dollars, and Team plans need a minimum of two seats.
Which assistant is cheapest for a team of five?
At list prices in October 2026, Claude Team and ChatGPT Business both come to $100 a month for five Standard seats billed annually. Microsoft 365 Copilot Business is $90 a month for five users as an add-on, but only on top of existing Microsoft 365 licences. Gemini is included in Workspace from Business Standard, so the cost is the plan upgrade.
Do these assistants train on my company’s data?
Not on the business tiers. Anthropic lists model training as “none by default” for Claude Team and Enterprise, and OpenAI states it will not train on a ChatGPT Business workspace’s data. On consumer plans the default differs and you may need to opt out, so do not run company work through personal accounts.
Can I keep ChatGPT data in the UAE?
On ChatGPT Enterprise and Education, yes. OpenAI offers UAE data residency for storage at rest and UAE inference residency for GPU execution, at no additional cost, with some features unavailable, such as image generation and internal search. Business plans are not listed, and eligibility is confirmed through OpenAI Sales.
Which is best for Arabic?
None of the four publishes a comparable Arabic benchmark for business tasks, and quality varies by dialect and task. Test each with your own Arabic documents and customer messages before you buy, and check that the tone works for Gulf customers, not only that the grammar is correct.
